75 Years to Ezrath Nashim

The history of Herzog Medical Center begins with the history of the Ezrath Nashim Association (‘Women Gathering to Help’ in Hebrew) which is inextricably interwoven with the history of modern Jerusalem and the State of Israel. Ezrath Nashim changed its name to the Herzog Medical Center in 1986 in honor of Rebbetzin Sarah Herzog, wife of Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Halevi Hertzog, (the mother of the former president Chaim Herzog of blessed memory, and grandmother of the current President of the State of Israel Yitzhak Herzog) in honor of her never-ending dedication to advance and build up the hospital into the world-class medical facility it is today. For the story of Ezrath Nashim, to a great extent, reflects the history of the period before the State’s establishment (the Jewish Yishuv) and after, and its initial growth into the startup nation Israel is today.

Please see the attached book that was published about the first 75 years of Herzog Medical Center, then known as the Ezrath Nashim Association, to find out more about the dedication and passion it inculcated in the hospital, its staff and the excellent medical care it has provided to Jerusalem and Israel over the years.
