Serving as a non-invasive diagnostic tool, medical imaging technology allows doctors to perform a deep analysis without having to perform surgery. It is very expensive however. Currently, Herzog Medical Center sends its patients to other hospitals to fulfill its medical imaging needs. This has become a full-day logistics nightmare as Herzog’s patients are not regular patients. They are patients who have debilitating conditions, are bedridden and hooked up to monitors and breathing machines. This has changed, however. Since the warm, Herzog has been serving as a national strategic medical and mental health center.
Now, Herzog has received hundreds more patients, exponentially increasing the need for medical image diagnosis as part of their ongoing treatment. In response, Herzog Medical Center is establishing a New Medical Imaging Center. The new center will contain the medical imaging technology necessary (MRI, CAT Scan and Ultrasound) to accommodate a high volume of patients. The construction has begun and the first machines are on order. Currently (barring further conflicts and subsequent delays) we expect the beginning of operations before the end of the year. In peacetime, the Center has been designated as a national center for children with developmental and behavioral disorders.
