Acute Geriatric Care Department

The Department of Acute Geriatric Internal Medicine cares for the elderly who suffer from acute medical conditions, such as pneumonia, vascular diseases, infections and respiratory illness.

Following the professional medical treatment given at the department, patients who are capable of independent functioning are frequently transferred to the Department of Physical Rehabilitation, to enhance their independence to a level at which they could be discharged to return to their homes.

Patients who are in need of extended medical care are referred to the Long-Term Nursing Department or the Department of Complex Nursing, depending on their medical needs.

My name is Bella, and I am a mother, grandmother and  a great -grandmother to a large, loving clan. Eight months ago, I suffered from a debilitating stroke, leaving me unable to walk even the few steps from my bed to bathroom. I was depressed and thought I would have to leave the hospital in a wheelchair; ‘this was the end,’ was all I could think. Anat, my physiotherapist, didn’t let me wallow in self-pity.
