Our Testimonials

Herzog Medical Center was conceived and realized as a result of the dedicated efforts of the ‘Ezrath Nashim’ women’s organization established 130 years ago in Jerusalem on Hanukka 1895. The word ‘hospital’ was never mentioned rather the word ‘Ezrath’ was employed to help remove the stigma then attached to the mentally ill. The word ‘Ezrath’ has a dual meaning: “ah-za-ra” which means assembly, while “ezra” means help. Thus Ezrath Nashim was defined as “an assembly (or association) of women offering help and support. It was in this vein that Ezrath Nashim was established and grew into Herzog Medical Center more than a century later out of the magnanimous and selfless dedication of a handful of visionary women. Here are a few of their stories, their legacies remaining interwoven in the fabric of Herzog’s daily operations strengthening Israel’s sick for generations to come.
