The Ministry of Defense (MOD) Mental Health Center in Jerusalem –is part of a strategic plan to establish Herzog Medical Center as a regional center for mental health and psychotrauma care. The Center will provide mental health and psychotrauma care for security personnel, discharged soldiers, police, and fire-fighters from Israel’s south and greater Jerusalem area. Inaugurated before October 7th, the new Center is at the forefront of care in the region, as it is only the second of its kind in the whole country. The MOD Jerusalem Mental Health Center is staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and all auxiliary staff who provide group and individual therapy on a short-term and long-term basis. The Center while expecting to treat a majority of people with PTSD, depression and anxiety disorders, also will treat psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, bi-polar and obsessive compulsive disorder. The Center will accept anyone who requests assistance, regardless of whether they are ultimately recognized by the Ministry of Defense and will be treated at no cost.
